Instrument-assisted fascia therapy

Reading time: 3 min.

Fascia has numerous nerve endings, which can sometimes be responsible for everyday complaints in your own body. It is not uncommon for such different sources of pain to be traced back to sticking or matting of the fascia. Instrument-supported fascial therapy (IASTM = Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization) aims to combat such hardening.

What is fascia?

Fascia acts like a buffer between the layers of tissue. Thanks to them, it can “glide past each other” smoothly. Bonded and matted fascia can limit this flexibility, causing restricted movement and pain. The fascia therapy is intended to restore the fascia to its natural mobility and thus prevent these physical complaints. An instrument-supported fascia therapy also treats the therapist's joints and enables more detailed work than would be possible with bare hands.

What tools are there for IASTM?

The following instruments for professional fascia therapy are all made of metal. The advantage: Materials such as stainless steel and aluminum are extremely durable, do not deform and hardly wear out, as would be the case with comparable devices made of wood or plastic. A well-maintained fascia tool can accompany the therapist throughout his life.

The following tools are professional instruments only and should only be used by properly trained people!

fazer

Fazer consists of five Swiss-made therapeutic treatment instruments made of high-quality stainless steel - corrosion-resistant and meeting the highest requirements. The materials used are used in surgery, among other things. Each of these tools was designed and forged for special treatment techniques or body regions.

There are five Fazer instruments in total. They differ in shape and application, all are made of the so-called surgical steel, which is absolutely skin-friendly and very easy to care for. This material also has a very high density, which means that tension and knots in the tissue can be felt and localized by the instruments.

You can purchase Fazer instruments individually or as a set with instruments 1 - 4. This also includes a cleaning cloth and two massage gels. The whole thing is packed in a practical instrument roll. The complete Fazer set can be easily transported and is always at hand.

Fazer hooks

The hooks are the ideal complement to the Fazer. Using a special hooking technique (myofascial fibrolysis), it enables the treatment of adhesions in the muscle fascia, tendon transitions or plain bearings and the intermuscular septa. In particular, scars and irritations on tendons or tendon bone transitions can be treated very specifically with the help of transverse friction with the hooks. The special hook shape of the instruments enables precise topographical stimulation of the tissue.

Thanks to the aluminum used, the hooks are also very light in weight, which makes them easier to handle. A high density and thus a high dead weight of the material are not necessary for the intended use of the Fazer Hooks.

Three different hook attachments and one handle model are available. All hook attachments are sold individually and fit onto the separately available handle. In this way, they can be quickly replaced at any time as needed. Each instrument comes with a matching bag that can be easily attached to the separately available instrument bag with a Velcro fastener.

Who can work with Fazer instruments?

The use of Fazer 1 - 5 and the Fazer Hooks is aimed exclusively at trained users such as physiotherapists, doctors, sports scientists, chiropractors and Rolfers. Appropriate training should therefore be available. Under no circumstances should the instruments be used by inexperienced persons for self-treatment or for the treatment of others.

Fascia training at home

Klimmi is perfect for a fascia massage at home. The small silicone tool is ideal for use on forearms and legs and works more specifically and selectively than, for example, fascia balls or mini fascia rollers.
